Meredith is located in Belknap County and as of the 2010 census has 6,241 residents. However, because it is a resort area, the population soars in the summer. Meredith is located on Lake Winnipesaukee and there are several islands located in Meredith on the big lake. There are several smaller lakes that also claim Meredith as their home. Among them are, Lake Waukewan, which is the source of the town water supply, Lake Wicwas, Winona Lake, and Lake Winnisquam which is the 4th largest lake in the state.

 

Routes 3 and Route 25 cross at an intersection in the center of Meredith at the head of the Lake. In this area, there are 4 Inns and several restaurants. Meredith has become what is called a destination location. There is a lot to do in Meredith. It has a movie theater, great dining. Shopping in the Mill Falls Marketplace, quaint shops and juried crafts at the League of Arts and Crafts. In the summer there are boat shows in the Bay, craft fairs in the center of town, lots of sponsored get togethers at the water’s edge. Some of these are the Chowder Fest, Fishing derbies in the winter on the ice and in the summer. 4th of July cook outs are always a favorite and usually offer chicken cooked right at the park near the docks in the Bay. Golf courses are close by and major ski areas are within 35 minutes.
